Breathe Green: Let’s reforest the Amazon

A single tree makes all the difference

Tree harvesting, oil extraction, mining and farming, all done to excess, are causing the Amazon to disappear. According to MapBiomas, between 2020 and 2024, Ecuador lost almost 240,000 hectares of forest, almost all of it in the Amazon. That is equivalent to the country of Luxemburg. At this rate, it is estimated that, by 2050 40% of the entire Amazon basin will have been deforested, not just the Ecuadorian part. This destruction of the Amazonian forests leads to the loss of biodiversity and the acceleration of climate change. But the problem goes further. The indigenous peoples of the Amazon are watching their land, their livelihoods and their way of life disappear due to the excessive consumption of natural resources. At the Pondera Foundation, we have seen first-hand the destruction of habitats and how it affects these communities. So, we created Breathe Green to plant a seed to solve this problem.

What we want?

To reforest the Ecuadorian Amazon in the province of Orellana

How are we going to do it?

🌱By raising €2,113 to plant the first Breathe Green Forest. 2,113 is the estimated number of plant species found in Yasuní National Park, right in the heart of the Orellana Amazon – the last paradise.

The project is managed by the Waorani, Suhar and Kichwa communities of Orellana. They know better than anyone the needs of their land and their people. They are responsible for selecting the seeds, maintaining the crops and enhancing biodiversity.

All the money raised will go entirely towards planting and managing the forest (except for the required mandatory fees)
